One
of only two acrylic pieces using the thickest acrylic sheet available
to increase the scale from that of previous three dimensional works.
(Consistent width of thick panels is difficult or impossible to maintain
- ideally I would have liked to use material at least 2 to 6 inches
in thickness for works in a much larger scale) As in earlier pieces
the semi-translucent white panels both absorb and reflect light.
Panels are spaced apart to allow changes of natural light to penetrate
the work and to accentuate the panels' ability to fracture white
light, thus introducing change through subtle color variations. My
interest in translating the philosophical concept of change into
a sculptural visual metaphor is represented further, as in earlier
works, by the shapes chosen for the individual panels which reflect
those energies in nature which are perceived as universal, as in
the interaction of liquids and solids. |
